Lisa Lampanelli had a cautionary tale about Twitter for David Letterman on "Late Show" (Weeknights, 11:35 p.m. EST on CBS). Be careful what you Tweet or you might find yourself having to put your money where your mouth was. For Lampanelli, it was fifty grand.
It went down at a show in Topeka, Kansas after Lampanelli found out about a protest heading her way. "I find out these freaks called the Westboro Baptist Church are going to protest me 'cause they hate gays and I have a semi-gay following," she explained. "I say, Hey for all of you who come out -- all you damn protesters -- I'm donating a grand to the gay cause of my choice."
She Tweeted this expecting maybe seven or eight protesters to show up. Instead, 50 of them showed up. But donating $50,000 to a worthy cause isn't all bad. "Made me look good and nobody called me fat on Twitter for a whole day," Lampanelli laughed. "So everybody wins."
